How Airtel Money charges work in Zambia
Airtel charges a flat fee for each band of amounts. The fee jumps at the start of every band, so the cheapest amounts to withdraw sit at the top of a band.
- Withdrawing K1,000 costs K20. Withdrawing K1,010 costs K35.
- Withdrawing K3,000 in one go costs K35. Three withdrawals of K1,000 cost K60.
- Sending to MTN or Zamtel costs about five times as much as sending to another Airtel number.
Since January 2026, part of every send fee is the government's mobile money levy. Withdrawals don't attract it. Our Airtel Money charges guide explains the levy and the limits.
