Sending to someone outside the registered-user tariff costs more on M-Pesa; the confirmation screen shows the exact fee before you enter your PIN.

M-Pesa or EcoCash: which is cheaper in Lesotho?
Up to M5,000, the two cost almost the same, so use whichever one the other person has. Above M5,000, EcoCash is clearly cheaper, because M-Pesa switches to a percentage while EcoCash keeps a flat fee.
- Withdrawing M1,000 costs M9.56 on M-Pesa and M9.94 on EcoCash.
- Withdrawing M10,000 costs M35 on M-Pesa and M25.73 on EcoCash.
- On M-Pesa, two withdrawals of M5,000 cost M30.26, less than one of M10,000. Splitting pays once you're taking out more than about M8,600.
